A suicide bomber Monday blew himself up at a bank in Pakistani capital Islamabad killing a security guard and wounding four others, police said. The second bomb blast in less than 24 hours instilled fear among the people.
The suicide attack took place at private SILK bank (formerly Saudi-Pak Bank) at I-8 Markaz (commercial center) in Pakistani capital Islamabad.
It was the second bombing in less than 24 hours. On Sunday evening an explosive device wounded three men on a main busy highway which links Islamabad and northern hill resort of Murree. Security has deteriorated in Islamabad since the May 2 killing of Al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden by US Navy SEALs in the northern city of Abbottabad, just outside Islamabad. Taliban militants have claimed most of the bombings vowing more attacks against government and military targets. The government says that more than 35,000 Pakistanis have been killed in bombings and suicide attack since the US war on terror began in late 2001 and Pakistan's economy suffered losses of 68 billion dollars due to flight of capital and lack of investment due to ever growing unrest in the South Asian country. Pakistan was backer of Taliban regime in Afghanistan, but reversed its policies and joined the US-led war on Afghanistan in late 2001.
I often walk up to MCB Bank for getting cash from ATM or paying bills or depositing money and this SILK bank is adjacent to it, just next door and common entrance. Since October 2010, I have visited this place almost daily because needed cash to pay to contractors and buy stuff for house. Often MCB ATM is out of order and I move to SILK bank's ATM next door. Many a times my son is also with me. Kids are terrified too. My son switched off tv and offered a prayer and started reading Holy Quran. He started learning last month.
