Many government departments have closed main roads in Islamabad fearing suicide attacks by Taliban militants. Khayaban-e-Suherwardy is one of the most blocked roads in Islamabad right from Serena hotel to sector G-10. Though Margalla road was not completely blocked, the big concrete blocks occupied half of the road at several places. In the image above the Inter-Services Intelligence headquarter blocked the road a couple of years ago, but its civilian neighbour and public dealing institution Capital Development also followed the suite and blocked the both sides of the roads in front of its office.
My request to ISI is that please relocate to some safer area and reopen the public road. Also all the roads should be opened for the public, the barricades set up by Islamabad police do nothing to prevent terrorist activities, but have become a source of traffic jams and inconvenience to general public, but a good source of illegal income for the cops from transporters and bikers. The policemen on these checkposts have hardly captured or intercepted any suicide bomber. There was not a single arrest after several attacks on army officers. A former religious minister was wounded in a gun attack, while armed gunmen shot dead religious affairs minister Shahbaz Bhatti in broad daylight in bustling I-8 sector.
