Political clashes between the activists of coaliton partners Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have claimed nearly 50 lives in Pakistan's largest city and its financial nerve centre Karachi in past few days, bringing the coalition to the brinks.
Interior minister Rehman Malik made a usual vague statement saying the killings were orchestrated by the elements who wanted to break up PPP-MQM partnership. MQM, a dominant force in Karachi, is part of ruling coalition in southern Sindh province and in the federal paraliament.
It is sad to see so many people being killed mercilessly in sectarian and political voilence in Pakistan.
