Why get kidnapped in Pakistan?

Kidnappings are rampant in Pakistan, especially of foreign nationals, diplomats, journalists, expatriate workers etc. Most of these take place in the areas near Pakistan-Afghanistan border and blamed on or claimed by Taliban militants or Baluch rebels. An American UN official was released by his captors after months of captivity and a Polish geologist was beheaded by Taliban after he was kidnapped and held for months.

One can understand that the foreigners doing various jobs in Pakistan are simply here because they want to earn their livelihoods, but one fails to understand that why foreign tourists should venture into lawless areas of Pakistan replete with militant activity and insurgency and would travel into the areas where even locals dare not go.

According to recent news a French man has been kidnapped in southwestern Baluchistan province on Saturday while traveling to Iran by road. Why any sane person, knowing all the risks would undertake journey in such a volatile area? Such careless people get kidnapped and put their families and home governments into quandary. This is not adventure tourism.
