Photo feature: Round trip to Murree

Cars wind down way back to Islamabad

A view of Islamabad-Murree dual carriage way

Today I went with my family for shopping and after scanning Islamabad's Blue Area business district, Jinnah, Super market, Super Market and Melody Market, I suddenly decided to drive to Murree to spend a few hours.

Murree is a hill resort (elevation 7,517 feet), about 50 kilometers northeast of capital Islamabad, which offers cool weather, pine trees, clouds and scenery and is thronged by people from across Pakistan during summer (June-August).

Since getting my car converted to CNG (compressed natural gas), I had checked it on Pir Shoawa track in Islamabad's Margalla hills, but not Murree. Though the last gas I filled from F-6 PSO, gave jerks and killed the engine whenever it ran low or during idling and turning. It never happened before, still the car (a 1298cc Toyota xli 2005 with 2NZ-FE engine, 32Kms driven) went very well on CNG and did the round trip to Murree. The AC was als on till Taret. With all the climb and four people in the car, it still gave me 173kms in 56kg cylinder, I had run just 66 kms in Islamabad with the last fill.

On way back, I unknowingly hit the new Islamabad-Murree dual carriage way and wow, it is an amazing track, wide and beautiful all the way to Bharah Kahu toll plaza.

So here are few pix. I had set the resolution to 860x480 and forget to increase it, so the quality would not be as good as my cam usually gives.

NJ, many thanks for your feedback on the blog. There is absolutely no Taliban in and around Murree, even there are no rumours here in Islamabad about it. Taliban's main target are coalition forces in Afghanistan and they are busy in the border areas. You can come anytime to Murree, this is peak tourist seaon, until end August.

Hi Ibad. Thanks for your feedback. The website work is carried out throughout the day and at home while I watch tv overlooking my laptop screen. It has become an addiction now and it is really very rewarding to see it growing and having more and more visitors. Keep visiting, regards.
